Tezos is a Proof of Stake blockchain network featuring on-chain governance and self-amendment mechanisms. It was first conceptualized in a 2014 white paper, then launched in 2018 after a $232 million ICO in 2017.
You can stake XTZ and earn rewards by becoming a baker (running your own validator node) or by delegating XTZ to a baker. You can browse bakers and delegate your XTZ to one on tzkt.io.
Baking is the Tezos term for being a validator of its blockchain. Anyone can become a baker by running the proper software and hardware, and by locking 6,000 XTZ.
The price of XTZ refers to a global price that is calculated by making a volume-weighted average of its real-time price on many different exchange platforms where it is traded, such as Binance, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase, Kraken, etc.
